The two organizations have joined
forces and will now be known as The Pig Preserve Association,
Inc.
PAPA, founded by
Lana Hollenbeck in Fort Myers, FL, is a nationally known education,
outreach and placement group, which has successfully served both the
pet pig and the pig rescue community for many years.
The Pig Preserve, founded
by Richard and Laura Hoyle in 2006, is a 100 acre natural preserve,
which will eventually provide a home for approximately 400 rescued pigs
of all breeds. Offering rescued pigs acres of pristine woods, lush
pastures, spring fed ponds and streams and the freedom and safety to
live life on their own terms, The Pig Preserve is an
innovative alternative to the more traditional pig sanctuaries.
The joining of PAPA
with The Pig Preserve represents the first ever merger
of a pig-oriented service group with a sanctuary and will allow us the
ability to offer education, outreach, placement, rescue and lifetime
care under one organization. This new organization will, possibly for
the first time ever, deal with pigs of all
breeds...including miniature (potbellied) pigs as well as domestic farm
pigs and pigs of other breeds.
It is our hope that this new
organization will offer a new model for the rescue and life time care of
pigs in a more healthy, more natural environment by allowing rescued
pigs to live their lives on their terms, as pigs were meant to live.
The Pig Preserve
Association, Inc is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization
currently headquartered in Fort Myers, Florida. The corporate offices
will relocate from Florida to Fentress County, TN in July of this year.
