Rescue Fund

Founded by Dr. Joan Poster

To serve the rescue world of pigs

Text Box:

The Rescue Fund is a reminder that more large rescues are turning up every day all around the country. By large we mean ten or more pigs within one group. Most of these are either from hoarders (something like puppy mills) or abuse cases. Almost always they consist of intact boars and females. Most females are pregnant or have babies on the ground.

Rescues of this type breaks the hearts of those who love and care for the breed. These numbers are staggering to say the least and to see where some of these pigs have to live would break your heart.

The cost of these rescues from start to finish is astronomical to say the least. One of the largest cost is seeing that all of the pigs are spayed and neutered whenever possible. Many people look the other way and cry a lot just because there are no funds available to help with the ever growing cost. Cost of rescuing consist of Fencing, shelter, food, worming, vaccinating, transporting and then add to that the spaying and neutering and/or lutalysing the females for those that are to obese to spay.

WE ARE CRYING FOR YOUR HELP

The Rescue Fund stands as a reminder that we all need to work together to save those we can from a life of despair and eventual death. The Pig Preserve Association wants to help ensure that all these pigs get a chance. So we have begun a fund that will at least help with the spay/neutering of large rescues for anyone willing to take on the task.
Your on going support will ensure that they have the chance.

You too can make a difference in helping to save pigs
by donating to the Rescue Fund.
All donations are tax deductible.

We are a 501(c)3 non profit organization.

Our EIN is 65-0817248

THE RESCUE FUND

Established by Joan Poster, VMD

The Rescue Fund is a matching money fund which is administered by The Pig Preserve Association (TPPA) to assist with various aspects of pig rescues.

The Fund Panel will receive, investigate, process and evaluate your request for assistance under The Rescue Fund. If approved, the funds will be disbursed directly to the veterinarian(s) providing the service(s) which have been approved as opposed to the applicant.

A majority vote is required by The Panel to fund a request. Once approved, the decision to fund or not fund a request cannot be overturned or over ridden by any member or official of TPPA. The Treasurer of TPPA sees to the disbursement of the funds approved by the panel.

The panel is tasked with examining each request for funding using a set of stringent criteria. Each request for funding is examined and decided upon on its own merit.

Prior funding to an organization or individual for the same rescue may be taken into consideration as the panel deliberates.

The ability of the requesting group or individual to provide matching funds and/or other funding will be considered.

If multiple requests are received, funding decisions will be based on those organizations/individuals with the greatest need. Priority will be given to those organizations or individuals rescuing pigs in truly desperate and life threatening situations.

Funding is NOT designed to pay the entire cost(s) of any rescue. Rather, funding is designed to help defray certain specific costs necessary to successfully undertake an emergency rescue of pigs in life threatening situations.

The advisory panel will inform TPPA of its decision on each request for funding. Included will be the justification for all decisions rendered by the panel. This allows TPPA to provide the requesting organization or individual with the specifics and the rationale behind the decision of the advisory panel.

There is no expectation of privacy implied or expressed with any request for funds from either of the assistance funds managed by TPPA. These funds exist and continue to operate only because of the generosity of and donations from contributors.

Specific information concerning the management of any of the assistance funds maintained by TPPA may be obtained at any time by submitting a request to the Treasurer of TPPA.

Upon completion of the following application and signing of acknowledgment of your understanding of the submission process, TPPA will forward your request and reference information to the Panel for consideration. When a decision has been reached, you will be contacted by TPPA of said decision.

The decision of the advisory panel is final. There is no appeal beyond the decision of the panel. However, should the situation that prompted the original request change substantially, the organization or individual is encouraged to submit a new application for funding with a full explanation of the change of circumstances prompting the resubmission. Resubmissions will be considered as new requests for funding and will be afforded a complete, impartial review.

I, the undersigned, have read and understand the information regarding The Rescue Fund, its application process, and the finality of the decision of the panel.
